Winter Activity Day Update

This year we are not having our traditional winter activity day. YRDSB has a one year moratorium on all skiing and related activities across elementary and secondary. We are working on trying to set up other activities for all our students at some point in January to celebrate the end of term 1. Please stay tuned.

Learning Buddies Learning Together

Ms. Schopp’s (gr. 3) and Ms Lee’s class (FDK) created artifacts together to visually represent important themes in First Nation Culture. Ms. Abarghooei, (OISE student teacher) read the students the book The Sharing Circle, stories about First Nation culture. The grade 3 students retold the story to their kindergarten buddy as they collaborated to design their artifact and write a description of why they chose that theme. Students really enjoyed the learning and are eager to continue learning more about First Nations.

Please Join Us Remembrance Day, Nov 11

Our school Remembrance Day assembly is Monday, Nov.11 at 11:00 a.m. in the gym. We’d like to extend a warm invitation to our families to join us in observing this significant day. Please sign in at the office and get a visitor sticker upon arrival.

Poppies, either sticker or pin, will be given to all students the morning of Remembrance Day.  We ask that students bring a donation (toonie) to contribute to our Legion collection box to support our Canadian veterans.  As well, poppies are also available in the office for family members during the week and on the day of the assembly.
