On behalf of all staff and students, I’d like to thank our community for your donations and participation at the Curriculum night BBQ. Because of your generosity from donations we are able to apply the full $5000.00 to the YRDSB cost share program. The program matches 1-1:5 dollars so we have $12,500 to spend on new technology for our maker spaces in the library and Chromebooks to build up classroom inventory.
School council has contributed the proceeds from the BBQ to purchase all books needed for the Forest of Reading Program at Henderson Ave.: Blue Spruce Kindergarten to Gr. 3, Silver Birch Gr. 4-6, Red Maple Gr 7-8. Please read a brief synopsis below.
The Forest of Reading® is Canada’s largest recreational reading program! This initiative of the Ontario Library Association (OLA) offers seven reading programs to encourage a love of reading in people of all ages. The Forest helps celebrate Canadian books, publishers, authors and illustrators. More than 270,000 readers participate annually from their School and/or Public Library. All Canadians are invited to participate via their local public library, school library, or individually.
Together we continue to make Henderson Ave a great place to learn.
