Info for Last Week of School

Dear Henderson Ave Families,

Here is the info for you to know for the last week of school!

  • Report Cards will be coming home on Tuesday, June 26. This will be a great opportunity to discuss successes, next steps, create goals and make a plan to achieve those goals. If you have any questions about report cards, please contact your child’s teacher.
  • School ends at 11:50 on Thursday, June 28.
  • If your child has any type of medication at school, please pick it up before noon on June 28.
  • Any clothing or items remaining in the Lost and Found will be donated to charity on June 29.
  • Still have a library book? We are asking all students to return library books before the end of the school year. Students will not be able to check out any books in the next school year until accounts are settled.
  • Yearbooks have arrived for students who have ordered/paid.

Thank you

The Henderson Ave. Team

June 29 – Early Release Day

All schools in the York Region District School Board are committed to improving student achievement and well-being.  On Thursday, June 29, 2017 an early release day will take place to allow elementary teachers and support staff to take part in meetings during the afternoon of that day.  These meetings will allow for school staff to engage in culminating activities regarding the review and revision of the School’s Improvement Plan as well as year-end and transition activities that support student success.

As has been our practice in the past, students will attend school during the morning of Thursday, June 29, 2017 only.  Students will be dismissed early that day at 11:50 p.m.  Arrangements will be made to ensure that students who are normally bused to and from school will receive transportation at this time.  Parents/guardians whose children attend after school child care should make appropriate arrangements to address this change in schedule.

Retirement Announcement

It is with mixed emotions that Henderson Ave announces the retirement of Laura Lindover.  Mrs. Lindover’s teaching career has spanned over 31 years, 18 of which have been  at Henderson.  Mrs. Lindover’s belief that “learning should be fun” has positively impacted every student, current and past, whom she has taught. We thank her for instilling the love of learning in both students and staff.  She will be missed!  Please join us in wishing Mrs. Lindover all the best as she begins a new adventure in her life.
