Contribute to Strategic Planning at YRDSB – Upcoming Town Halls

York Region District School Board is revisioning its Multi-Year Plan (MYP) and Board Improvement Plan for Student Achievement and Well-being. The Board of Trustees is responsible for setting the strategic direction of public education in York Region public schools. The MYP incorporates the direction established by the Trustees with feedback received from all stakeholders, and will inform decision making at the Board in the years to come. Town halls will be taking place across the region and feedback collected from families and community members will inform the creation of a new MYP. Your voice is important and your input and feedback will help York Region District School Board support student achievement and well-being. There will also be other opportunities, including a survey available in April, to share your thoughts if you are unable to attend a town hall.

Tuesday Parking Dilemma

Henderson Ave is hosting the intermediate boys basketball area tournament. We are expecting coaches and parent audience from 6 schools.  Parking will be at a premium so we are only allowing coaches and Henderson Ave staff to park in the lot. There will be no parking for parents who wish to walk their children into school. We encourage families to walk to school to avoid any frustration that may occur with the high volume of traffic. The end of the day should be more status quo.

Report Cards Home Today

Report cards for term 1 (Sept 5 – Jan 31) have been sent home today. Please take the time with your child to review not only the grades/marks, but the comments as well. Celebrate their successes and talk about the goals that they are setting to address areas of need and their next steps.

Monday is Family Day….enjoy!

Winter Walk To School a SUCCESS!!

It was another wonderful snowy winter day in Canada, perfect for a healthy walk. We had close to 200 walkers (student and family)! We will be sending in our numbers to Canada Walks. Thank you to the team of staff that supported the walk. We had a busy kiss and ride due to bus cancellations and everything went smoothly and orderly. Thank you to our parents who patiently waited to pull up to the drop off location and kept on eye out for the safety of our walking families crossing roadways.
